this week on substack drk brwn wide

What the monthly pamphlet did, the weekly Substack does now. Three times a week we post articles on our Substack to dig into our nation’s history.

Mondays, we teach you about one of your rights, Wednesdays we highlight a person living that right, Fridays we take you to a day in the founding years, and a feature article comes out sporadically to go deeper into what we have been writing about.  You can choose to read for free, but paid subscribers receive the articles first, and they fund the work to keep your Pamphlets coming.

Here is what went out last week September 28, 2026-October 3, 2026.

Monday ~ What “inalienable” actually means

First Principles · 28 September 2026

Inalienable rights are God’s foundation of our nation. Locke said no man has arbitrary power over his own life, so he cannot deed that power to a magistrate. Sidney said liberty is an independency upon the will of another, and that liberties come from God and nature, not from kings. This article introduces what this week teaches you: what you do not have as a power you cannot give to government.

Wednesday ~ Jefferson at the drafting table

They Lived It · 30 September 2026

image

Five years before Yorktown, Jefferson sat at a rented table in Philadelphia and wrote a letter to a king. The constitution had not been written yet, but our inalienable rights were the basis of our nation. The published creed still says governments are instituted to secure rights the people already have, and that just powers come from consent. The piece asks you to sit in that room and hear what the sentence was for.

Friday ~ The Yorktown siege is on

This Day · 2 October 2026

October 2nd was not a famous day inside the war. But you will find out in this article why it is useful information to have. This Substack article tells of one man’s civic duty to the country and the people.   A gentleman left the American lines on 30 September and wrote the Pennsylvania Packet.  This was the news and information about what he had seen. Most of the country never saw what was happening, they heard about the war when a neighbor read the papers.  The Pennsylvania Packet tells of Washington ordering the army to lie on its arms and tells of one instance of a household waiting on a son in Weedon’s militia.

Saturday ~ Why THE PAMPHLET exists

Feature · 3 October 2026

The Saturday feature article answers the question, why do we keep publishing when every party talks of change and control of the government? Rights were declared by the people and the states before any national constitution was in force.

Virginia said all men are equally free on 12 June 1776.

The later Constitution moved power from the people toward the national government, and that forced a demand for a Bill of Rights as the price of union.
