Here is what went out this week.
Monday ~ Equality is not sameness
First Principles · 5 October 2026
When the men who taught the Founders said equal, and when the states wrote equal into their declarations of rights, they were talking about a boundary as well as liberty. No man is born above another in the eyes of the Great Creator. They were not talking about equal purses, equal skills, or a government office that levels the field by taking from one neighbor to dress another. Locke left room for age, virtue, and merit. Sidney left room for the fact that free men are not interchangeable parts.

Friday ~ The batteries open at Yorktown
This Day · 9 October 2026

Cornwallis wrote that the fire continued incessant until the guns on his left were silenced. The same day the headquarters paper counted saucissons, fascines, and palisades. Six years earlier Congress had voted two swift vessels. The seed planted in 1775 was still growing when the batteries spoke.
